Quasar 3C-273 has a prominent gaseous jet extending out 150,000 light-years from it. The picture was taken with the 200-inch Mount Palomar telescope.

3C-147, at arrow, seems as bright as the other stars around it, despite being 1,000,000 times more distant. The picture was taken with the 200-inch Mount Palomar telescope.
