Prince Otto Friedrich Ludwig of Bavaria was chosen by the Conference of London to assume the newly-created throne of Greece in 1832. Although he was initially welcomed by his new subjects, his reign was in almost constant turmoil. Increasingly unpopular, he was finally forced to step down from the throne in 1862.
