Independence Day for the Malagasy Republic

On March 26, 1960, in Paris, France, agreements bringing about a transfer of powers were signed; agreements on cooperation were initialed at the same time. On June 26, independence was proclaimed and agreements on cooperation between France and Madagascar were signed. The Malagasy Republic was admitted to the United Nations on September 20.
