1978 Track and Field Highlights

No less than 14 new men's world outdoor records were achieved in 1978, 8 of them in Olympic events. Four of the new men's world records were set by Kenyan distance runner Henry Rono, who became the first man ever to break records for the 3,000-meter, 3,000-meter steeplechase, 5,000-meter, and 10,000-meter.
