Party Drafts Inactive Candidate

In July 1972 the Resurrected Whig Party announced that it had nominated Millard Fillmore, President of the United States from 1850 to 1853, as its presidential candidate in 1972. In the picture below, Jeffrey Amdur (left) explains to the party convention, held in a Baltimore, Maryland, park, that nothing in the Constitution says that a candidate must be alive.
