Frederick Bean "Tex" Avery
was an animator and cartoon director who worked for Walter Lantz, Warner Brothers, and MGM. Over the course of his career he gave Bugs Bunny his personality, redesigned Porky Pig and Chilly Willy, and created Daffy Duck, Droopy, Screwball Squirrel, and the Frito Bandito, among many other characters.
Jay Norwood Darling
Jay Norwood "Ding" Darling
developed passions for both drawing and conservation at an early age, and pursued both throughout most of his life. His political cartoons earned him two Pulitzer Prizes, and his conservation-themed cartoons led to passage of the Migratory Bird Hunting and Conservation Stamp Act.
Thomas Nast
Thomas Nast
was an illustrator and political cartoonist who created the modern pictorial version of Santa Claus, as well as the Democratic Donkey and Republican Elephant. His illustrations helped sway public opinion during the Civil War, and he also helped bring down a powerful New York City political machine.
